The Tembisa SAPS arrested a 32-year-old man who was allegedly found in possession of stolen property at Madelakufa on Tuesday last week.
According to the Tembisa SAPS spokesperson, Constable Tebogo Sesing, the chairperson of the patrollers in sector 11 received information about goods that were delivered to one of the shacks.
He contacted the police and on their arrival, they searched the shack and found stolen property.
“The suspect told the police that the goods were not his, and that his job was to look for customers to buy them,” said Const Sesing.
The suspect then allegedly took the police to the owner of the goods, who ran away when he saw the police.
“When they searched his shack, they found a home theatre and a plasma television, which were stolen at Moyeni section,” said Const Sesing.
One of the victims, Mr Luxolo Gelese, managed to identify his property.
He thanked the community patrollers and the police for a job well done. He also encouraged residents to join the community patrollers. The arrested suspect will appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court soon.
