More than 100 arrests during police operation

The operations will continue to ensure public safety in the city

KEMPTON Park SAPS Crime Prevention, the metro police and Railway SAPS arrested 138 suspects during an operation last week Thursday.

According to Capt Jethro Mtshali, Kempton Park SAPS spokesman, the operation started at 9am and ended at 4pm.

Among the suspects were three Ekurhuleni metro employees, who were nabbed with a metre of copper during a random check at the electricity depot’s gate. The men, aged 20, 33 and 40, will face charges of possession of stolen goods.

“Other suspects were arrested for various crimes, including possession of suspected stolen goods, possession of drugs, crossing the railway line and we had foreign nationals with no valid documentation,” he said.

The operations will continue to ensure public safety in the city.
