False case gets men arrested

A 20-year-old man from Ivory Park, extension 6, was arrested after allegedly opening a false case of house robbery at the Ivory Park SAPS on Wednesday last week.

According to the Ivory Park SAPS communications officer, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela, the suspect claimed that three men entered his house in Ivory Park. He claimed that one of the attackers pointed a firearm at him, demanding money.

“He showed them where the money was. The men took the money and left him handcuffed,” said W/O Sekgobela.

After investigating, police officers determined later that the alleged victim was actually a suspect in the case.

“The money belonged to the man’s brother, who had left the money in his possession before planning the house robbery. He was arrested with one of his accomplices, who was also found in possession of some money. The other two suspects are still on the run,” said W/O Sekgobela.

The men are expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court on charges of perjury.
