Major General Vincent Leshabane, of the Tembisa Cluster SAPS, is warning residents about gangsters hiding in and around Tembisa.
He said Ivory Park and Tembisa have become hot-spots for criminals.
“People should be aware of these groups as they go around committing robberies and murders. Some deal with drugs. They target houses where there are no elders and they rob people,” he said.
Maj Gen Leshabane added that about seven groups have been identified in Ivory Park, extension 7, 6 and 8, while other gangs are from Motsu section.
“These gangsters call themselves BTK – meaning born to kill, RAF 3 and 10 boys, MOB, 26 gang, 28 gang and the Cicilian gang. We urge teachers to help the police by reporting anything related to gangsterism or crime,” he said.
Residents with information regarding bogus police and ATM bombers should come forward with information as the suspects are heavily armed.
