THE husband of a 46-year-old Van Riebeeck Park woman found her dead in their bed in the early hours of Sunday morning.
According to Norkem Park Police spokesman, Capt Lesibana Molokomme, Rhodine van der Walt (46) was discovered by her husband when he arrived home after midnight. She was shot in her upper body.
Chris van der Walt (49) of Kavalier Street told Beeld he immediately knew something was wrong when he saw the back door had been broken open.
He said he spent the evening with his daughter in Benoni. His wife decided to stay at home.
According to Van der Walt he switched on the alarm before he left.
The intruders took his laptop, jewellery and the recorder of the CCTV cameras, he said to Beeld.
Molokomme said no-one had been arrested.
Van der Walt’s funeral service is on Friday at 11am at the AGS Church in Daffodil Street, Farrarmere, Benoni.
