FOUR suspects, including a 24-year-old female, were arrested at Birch Acres Mall last week Wednesday between 3pm and 5.30pm.
According to Capt Lesibana Molokomme, spokesman for Norkem Park SAPS, the woman was caught after stealing clothes valued at R2 673 from Truworths.
In an unrelated incident, two suspects, believed to be aged between 30 and 37, were caught with stolen goods.
“Another two suspects, aged between 30 and 37, were arrested on the same day, at the same mall, in possession of shoes valued at R201,98 from Mr Price,” Molokomme said.
In a third occurrence, a 32-year-old male suspect was apprehended at an ABSA Bank for attempting to take out a loan using a fraudulent pay slip. According to Molokomme, the arrest came after a sales consultant became suspicious of the man upon asking him to confirm his residential address, which he failed to do.
Further, when the sales consultant contacted the company shown on the pay slip, the man was unknown to them.
“The suspect later confessed he was not working for the said company shown on the payslip, and he got the slip from someone who said he should go and make a fraudulent loan with it,” Molokomme said.
