AN alleged mealie thief has mysteriously disappeared after her accomplices heard screams and then shots.
Kempton Park SAPS needs assistance with information regarding Renata Masuku who went missing after she and four men went to steal mealies on Erasmus Farm last week Monday.
According to Capt Jethro Mtshali, Kempton Park SAPS spokesman, the five had planned to steal mealies from the farm and had made an arrangement with one of the security officers to allow them access onto the farm.
“The five went in as per their arrangement. However, another officer on duty spotted them and gave chase. The four men managed to escape, leaving her behind,” he said.
The men told police they heard her scream and gunshots and then silence. They went looking for her the following day and reported her missing.
“We went with sniffer dogs and our helicopter in an attempt to look for the body but all we found were bullet casings and a bloody towel,” said Mtshali.
