A 29-year-old suspect was nabbed shortly after he had robbed a woman of her cell phone in Rhodesfield.
“The victim had just parked outside and was going to her workplace on Catalina Street. The suspect suddenly grabbed her handbag and cell phone and ran away,” said Kempton Park spokesman, Capt Jethro Mtshali.
It was the sudden and brave reaction of a customer that led to the arrest.
“The man saw all of this and immediately went running after the suspect until he caught him,” said Mtshali.
The police were called and the woman had her belongings returned to her.
“We commend the man’s bravery and for assisting the police in their ongoing fight against crime. This and many other incidents are an example of how both communities and police can collectively fight crime,” he added.
