FOUR suspects, wanted in connection with robbery and assault, were arrested at their homes at the RDP houses at Esselenpark on Friday just after midnight.
According to Capt Lesibana Molokomme, Norkem Park SAPS spokesman, the men, aged between 20 and 26, were all arrested after they were linked to a case of assault with intent to cause injuries to a person and common robbery.
The case was opened by a complainant who alleged that on February 7 at about 7.30pm, he was walking home along the open veld between Emangweni Section in Tembisa and the RDP houses when seven men approached him.
The men allegedly grabbed him by his clothes and started assaulting him and robbed him of R1 500.
In another incident a man (20) was arrested at Birch Acres Mall on Thursday last week.
It is alleged that the suspect, along with an accomplice, who managed to get away, robbed a woman of her cell phone on the corner of Umgwali and Isimuku streets at about 7.30pm.
The woman was on her way back home from the shops when two men, who were at the entrance of a spaza shop, grabbed her cell phone and ran towards Birch Acres Mall, Molokomme said.
The woman’s cousin, who was with them at the time, chased after the suspects towards the mall. The arrested suspect jumped into the yard of the mall, where security joined the chase and managed to arrest him. He had the woman’s cell phone in his possession.
