SHAHEEN Leen (42), the main suspect in the murder of elderly Bonaero Park couple, Percy and Noleen Whitmore, will again apply for bail, Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court heard on Friday.
The couple was attacked and murdered in their home on August 4, 2011.
According to Leen’s newly appointed attorney, the reapplication is based on new facts that have surfaced and will see him seek bail again.
He was previously denied bail on November 13 with the magistrate stating that the reasons presented to the court on behalf of Leen were not of an exceptional nature.
The case was also postponed pending the completion of the investigation by the police, which according to the prosecution, has since been completed.
Additionally, the court was still awaiting the decision from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) with regards to whether the trial will be in Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court or in the High Court.
He was nabbed in Cape Town in October last year after police were able to locate him in the Bonteheuwel area.
He will again appear on March 3 and remains in custody.
