A private investigator, 34-year-old Lentheng Fortune Letshele, appeared in Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Monday last week on charges of bribery.
According to Capt Paul Ramaloko, spokesman for the hawks, Letshele was arrested by the Pretoria Anti-Corruption Unit of the Hawks on February 14 in Kempton Park.
Letshele also works as a security manager at a reputable company in Johannesburg.
He allegedly attempted to bribe a Pretoria prosecutor with R2 000 to have a car theft case against his brother squashed.
“The suspect made an appointment with the Pretoria-based prosecutor at Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court for the transaction to take place,” Ramaloko said.
His younger brother, Peter Letshele, allegedly stole a vehicle from a Pretoria vehicle dealership in 2012 and the case against him is still underway.
Letshele was granted R3 000 bail and the case has been remanded to March 3.
