A 22-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping an 11-year-old boy on Saturday last week.
According to the Tembisa SAPS spokesperson, Constable Tebogo Sesing, the victim’s mother reported that her son was raped to the police.
The child claimed to have been raped by a caretaker at his school.
The suspect was arrested and detained at the Tembisa police cells.
He is expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court soon.
“I am happy with the arrest. I would like to encourage parents to always know the whereabouts of their children. We have a unit that specialises in sexual offences. The abuse of women and children will not be tolerated,” said the Tembisa SAPS acting Station Commander, Colonel Nthipe Boloka.
