VARIOUS police and metro police units were out in full force in the city on Wednesday to rid our streets of crime.
Kempton Park SAPS conducted routine crime prevention operations in various areas around Kempton Park, including Rhodesfield, Kempton Park Taxi Rank, Norkem Park, Sebenza, Olifantsfontein and Ivory Park.
Various other security clusters were also involved in the operations, including Norkem Park SAPS, Sebenza SAPS, Tembisa SAPS, Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department, the dog unit, flying squad and other units within the Tembisa Cluster.
According to Capt Jethro Mtshali, spokesman for Kempton Park SAPS, the stop and searches were done to avert things like drugs possession, unlawful firearm possession and other crime-related incidents are not taking place.
“The whole security cluster were involved, where people were searched randomly for anything that might be against the law,” Mtshali said.
According to him, the operations took place over a number of days.
The operations took place under the leadership of Brig Johannes Marx, station commander of Kempton Park Police Station.
