DA takes election campaign to Tembisa

The DA's premier candidate, Mr Mmusi Maimane, led the party's march for jobs in Tembisa on Sunday this week.

The march started and ended at Buhleni Park.

Mr Maimane said many people are unemployed in the east of Gauteng.

“There are so many small businesses struggling to survive. There are so many people waiting for title deeds for houses, and so many who live without basic services. We know that housing is a major issue in Tembisa,” he said..

He added that families must be able to invest in their property and use it to expand their livelihoods.

“We must also ensure that quality houses are built and that corrupt contractors do not get the tender to build sub-standard houses. We will expand government’s database of community suppliers so that people right here in this community can win tenders. We will pay suppliers on time so that small businesses don’t have to close because the government owes them money,” said Mr Maimane.

Mr Maimane also wants a debate with the ANC’s Gauteng candidate, Mr David Makhura, about the state of the province.
