Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality’s engineers are working around the clock to restore electricity supply to Norkem Park and surrounding areas.
Power has been out since 2am on Monday due to cable theft that took place under the bridge in Pongola River Drive. This in turn resulted in multiple faulty underground cables.
On Tuesday night the engineers succeeded in repairing six of the faulty underground cables on the Kempton Park electricity network – two of the cables could not be repaired due to the extent of the damage. They are currently working at replacing these cables with new ones.
Power was restored to some parts of the affected areas before 10pm on Tuesday night. Currently three substations supplying affected areas remain without electricity supply.
Power is expected to be fully restored throughout the Norkem Park area this afternoon.
Residents are reminded to treat the network as electrically live at all times.
