THREE suspects were arrested by Sebenza SAPS after they had crashed while fleeing from the police.According to acting spokesman for Sebenza SAPS, Sgt Barbara Tshunungwa, the incident happened at around noon on Tuesday.
W/O Shaun Grant and Lt Col Michelle Toohey were on patrol in Esther Park when they noticed three suspicious males in a white Nissan SL bakkie. Tshunungwa said when the police tried to stop them they sped off.
Grant and Toohey gave chase as the suspects headed towards the R25 on Parkland Drive. In their haste to escape they collided with a Toyota Corolla but did not stop.
They drove on and when they got to the R25, they skipped a red traffic light and crashed into a Mazda double-cab bakkie. Grant and Toohey caught up with them.
The injured suspects were found in possession of housebreaking tools.
Tshunungwa said the men were arrested on a charge of possession of housebreaking tools and reckless and negligent driving. They were taken to hospital under police guard.
The drivers of the Toyota Corolla and Mazda were not seriously injured.
Sebenza SAPS is still investigating whether the three suspects, aged between 25 and 30, were involved in any crimes.
