POLICE suspect a serial rapist could be operating in Esther Park.
Acting Vispol-head, W/O Kobus Holloway, said two women had been raped by a man using the same modus operandi in a short period in this area.
Both incidents occurred around sunset. He said the victims were raped while walking through open fields near Zuurfontein Road, CR Swart and Parkland drives.
Holloway said these areas were also hotspots for robberies and vehicle theft.
He warned that several cars had been stolen while the drivers were in shops in the area.
Another problem in the area, according to Holloway, is truck hijackings. Hijackers signal to trucks that there is something wrong with the truck. When the drivers stop, the hijackers point a firearm at them and take the vehicles.
Holloway asked everyone to be vigilant while driving or walking in this area.
