A 4-year-old girl was raped on Friday last week.
It is alleged she was raped by a friend of her mother’s partner.
According to the Ivory Park SAPS spokesperson, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela, the mother of the victim claimed the incident happened at around 10.15pm.
“She said she heard noises coming from the dining room. Her child was crying while the mother’s boyfriend questioned his friend about what he had done to the child. The mother was in the bedroom watching television,” said W/OSekgobela.
W/O Sekgobela added that the victim told her mother the friend had raped her in the toilet.
“A case of rape was opened at the Ivory Park SAPS. The suspect was arrested and detained at the Ivory Park Police Station. He appeared in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court on Thursday last week. He was reminded in custody pending his bail application,” she added.
