FOUR women, including a mother who tried to steal by stuffing groceries into her baby’s stroller, were arrested for shoplifting by Norkem Park SAPS on April 17.
All the women were apprehended between 10am and 5pm.
According to Norkem Park SAPS spokesman, Capt Lesibana Molokomme, in the first incident a woman was arrested at Checkers in Norkem Mall after she was caught with groceries valued at R500 she had stuffed into the baby’s pram.
“The items were recovered by a security guard on duty at the exit after she noticed there were items hidden inside the baby’s stroller,” Molokomme said.
The mother was arrested after trying to pass the exit point without having paid for the items.
In a separate incident on the same day, three women were arrested at Mr Price in Birch Acres Mall for stealing clothes and earrings.
Two of the suspects were found in possession of clothes valued at about R1 000 and the third with six pairs of earrings valued at nearly R300.
