
A fight over a girlfriend led to the death of a man and the subsequent arrest of a 33-year-old suspect at the RDP houses in Esselen Park.
According to Capt Lesibana Molokomme, spokesman for Norkem Park SAPS, they were alerted by 10111 about a man who was found badly injured lying on a street on April 19 at 4.30am.
“The police immediately called an ambulance and the victim, who was severely beaten with bricks, was taken to hospital.”
The police managed to quickly track down a 33-year-old suspect who was arrested at his home for assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
“Later during the day a family member of the victim reported to the police that the victim had died in hospital and the charge was changed to murder,” Molokomme said.
