Police officers from the Tembisa Cluster arrested four suspects for being in possession of stolen goods at Ivory Park, extension 2, on Friday last week.
According to the Ivory Park SAPS communications officer, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela, the stolen goods have an estimated value of R40 000.
“The police received information about the suspected stolen goods. Residents showed the officers where the storage house was located. Some spaza shop owners around the area used to buy the illegal goods from the same house.,” she said.
W/O Sekgobela added that when the police arrived, they found two women who had allegedly bought three bags of nappies.
“They pointed out the owners of the storage house to the police. Two men, aged between 18 and 23, were arrested. The women were also arrested for being found in possession of stolen goods,” she added.
It is believed the goods were stolen from a store in Centurion, where a case of theft was already opened.
Colonel Abraham Mapulana, from the Tembisa SAPS cluster, is appealing for community members to stop buying stolen goods as they will be charged.
“Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activities that could lead to the arrests of the criminals in the area,” he said.
