A woman and her boyfriend were among five suspects arrested for alleged drunken driving and interfering with police duties by Norkem Park SAPS and Ekurhuleni Metro police between April 30 and May 2 in Birchleigh, Norkem Park and Chloorkop.
In the first incidence, according to Norkem SAPS spokesman, Capt Lesibana Molokomme, a 33-year-old woman was apprehended at the corner of Elgin Road and Olienhout Street in Birchleigh for driving under the influence of alcohol.
When her boyfriend, who was in the car with her, tried to intervene and protect his girlfriend from being arrested, he was also taken in for obstructing the duties of the police.
The other three suspects were arrested by Norkem Park SAPS during patrols on James Wright Street in Norkem Park and Ossewa Street in Chloorkop.
