A security officer caught five men red handed while trying to steal an electric cable on Bergrivier Drive in Chloorkop last week.
The security officer, who was patrolling the area at the time of the incident on May 5, spotted the five men just after midnight and immediately alerted the police, according to Capt Lesibana Molokomme, spokesman for Norkem Park SAPS.
“On arrival, the police questioned the suspects about their activities and they were unable to explain the reason for being there at the time and why they were decking out the electric cables.”
They were arrested on the spot by Norkem Park SAPS.
