Mother’s Day celebrated in Tembisa
Some of the women in Tembisa and the surrounding areas celebrated Mother's Day at the Sam Hlalele Community Hall on Saturday last week.
The event was organised by members from Cheribels in Tembisa.
The guest speakers of the day was Ms Buyi Lechaba, who lead the praise and worship and Ms Lucy Ntsane, who taught the women how to behave as mothers.
Ms Belinda Moleko encouraged the women to open small businesses.
Ms Charity Mokoena, the organiser of the event, said they wanted the women to feel accepted and special, as they are faced with many challenges in life.
“It is time women learn to put themselves first because their happiness also counts in a home. The world is heavy and we cannot carry the burden alone,” she said.
She added that women play many roles at home but their work is not acknowledged within the community.
“Women are known for acting as if everything is fine, even though it is not. We keep making everything better for everyone else and put ourselves last. That should stop,” said Ms Mokoena.
She added that she was happy to see the women enjoying their day.
“We would like to thank Pick ‘n Pay at Tembi Mall for sponsoring the event,” she said.
The women were given free gifts and served with lunch.
