Church donates school shoes

Members of the newly-formed Fulfilment in Christ Kingdom Centre paid a visit to Mvelaphanda Primary School on Friday last week.

The church’s pastor, Mr Nevilimadi Makhado, donated 10 pairs of school shoes and stationary packs to disadvantaged pupils.

The parents of the pupils were also invited to attend to the donation.

Pastor Makhado said it is winter and they wanted to help those in need.

“We are residents within the community and we should always look after each other. I have learnt from my senior pastors that whatever we accumulate as a church, we should think about the needy people in the area. Children are our first priority because we want to encourage them to love school and become better people,” he said.

Pastor Makhado said the school officials helped them identify pupils who are battling to cope with winter, as they lack the correct school uniform.

“We are sharing our love with the community. The principle of sharing not only applies when you have much. It also applies when you only have a little. I urge the community to all participate in helping needy people. Even if we cannot afford to build them houses, we can contribute in another way. By doing so, we would be demonstrating the love of God to our diverse community. We are hoping to get more resources in order to assist these children with warm clothes and school uniforms,” said Pastor Makhado.

The school principal, Mr Muladelo Mathavha, said they were grateful for the donation.

“It will make a great impact on our pupils. Some pupils had no school shoes at all. They use to wear tekkies to come to school. This will help them improve their level of learning. We appreciate any donation that impacts positively on young children,” he said.

Mr Matavha is appealing to other churches in the area to assist with needy pupils.

“This kind of donation will create encourage children to start attending church,” he added.

The grandmother of two disadvantaged pupils at the school, Ms Elizabeth Madau, said she was happy for the donation.

“We thank God to have such people in the community. We hope God empowers and enriches them so that they can do more for others,” she said.
