THE murder trial of the man accused of killing Lolly Jackson had been postponed until June 20 in Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
George Louca is accused of murdering Jackson at a house he was renting in Edleen in 2010.
Louca was extradited from Cyprus to South Africa in February and this was his fourth appearance. The matter could not be heard because Louca had not properly consulted his lawyer.
According to Eyewitness News his attorney said he had not been able to adequately consult with his client due to concerns about his safety.
A security sweep of the courtroom was done ahead of his appearance. He was then led into the dock under heavy police guard, Eyewitness News reported.
Two men, dressed in military uniforms with R5 rifles, looked on for the duration of the case.
The matter is likely to be heard in the high court. Louca will be kept at an undisclosed correctional facility until then.
