Youth Desk needs more members in the fight against crime
The chairperson of the Tembisa Youth Desk, Mr Kgomotso Mokoka, said the organisation needs more members.

“We welcome young people in the area. We are challenged by the youth of Tembisa, who do not want to take charge of their area and fight against crime. We encourage young people to consider structures like the Youth Desk,” he said.
Mr Mokoka added that they are aiming to assists both the SAPS and the Department of Community Safety in fighting against crime.
“The structure helps young people to keep busy. They get to participate in the sporting code and arts and culture activities. We are the youth from diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds and have recognised our common aim of assisting the authorities in eradicating crime in our community,” he added.
The vision of the organisation is to encourage the principle of co-determination between young people working together to combat crime through awareness campaigns, community out-reach programmes, workshops and substance abuse projects.
“Our youth are attacked by an illegal street drug called nyaope. We urge them to join us so they can have a clear direction for their future. We welcome youngsters who have dropped out of school, who have been in trouble with the law, involved in alcohol or drug abuse and those who have been victims of crime,” he said.
