Second album for Mkhabela

The Tembisa-based cultural group, Nape a Phaahle, has released its second album called Ke a Swa.

Under the leadership of former gospel musician, Mr Shadrack Mkhabela, the group’s latest offering is being played on almost all local radio stations.

The group’s title track, Ke a swa, was nominated for the South African Music Awards (SAMAS), under the cultural music category.

Mr Mkhabela said the title song talks about people who abandon their children when they are still young.

“A lot of people offend the ancestors by abandoning their children and end up being haunted by the ancestors for life. As Africans, we have to look after our children to avoid the wrath of the ancestors,” he said.

The group would also like to teach youngsters to love and respect their own culture.

“We have to teach them where they come from, so that they grow up knowing their identity,” he said.

Mr Mkhabela can be contacted on 079 599 6133.
