New police station opens in June

The new police station in Thafeni Section, on the corner of Zephenia Msebenzi Mathebula and Brian Mazibuko Drive in Tembisa, will open on June 2.

According to the spokesperson of the new station, Colonel Maredi, the station is going to service communities in the following areas:

Sector 1 : Jiyane, Thafeni, Isivana Isiphethweni, Baxa and Welamlambo.

Sector 2 : Birch Acres Ext 23 to 45, Birch Acres Mall, Birch Acres , Mooifontein and Graveyard.

Sector 3 : Sangweni, Tembisa Plaza, Thiteng, Taxi Rank, Mpho, Lekaneng Vusimuzi section, Vusumuzi Hostel, Vusimuzi Squatter Camp, Hlanzeni Section and Hlanzeni Hostel.

Sector 4 : Moedi, Khatlamping, Ndayeni, Mnonjaneni and Tembisa Ext 11.

Sector 5 : Sqongweni, Ntshonalanga, Mthambeka ,Tembisa Ext 5 and Mfuyaneng.

During an exclusive interview with The Tembisan on Thursday last week, Colonel Maredi said they have already profiled the areas and discovered that most of the crimes committed are common assault, rape, burglary and murder.

“We are going to work hand-in-hand with members of the community in fighting crime in all the areas. We want to make it clear that for us to succeed in fighting crime, we need the assistance of residents. We will also increase police visibility in the area. We warn criminals to stop their criminal activities because we will leave no stone unturned in dealing with perpetrators, ” he said.
