Two nabbed after failed robbery

Two men were arrested after a failed cash-in-transit heist at a shopping mall on Friday.

According to Gauteng police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini, ten men tried to rob members of a security company at Birch Acres Mall, situated on the boarders of Tembisa and Kempton Park.

“Police were alerted and a shoot-out ensued. A security guard and one suspect were wounded during the shoot-out. Three firearms and the suspects’ get-away vehicle were recovered. The vehicle had been reported stolen in Midrand,” said Lt Col Dlamini.

The Tembisan previously reported police had cornered armed robbers and entrance to the mall, had been closed and no one is allowed to enter the mall.
