Residents urged to support their children
Mr Desmond Zeelie, the director and head consultant from the Foundation of School Leadership and Management in Tembisa, urges residents to support pupils in the area.
“It is true your child should do the school work and put in the effort to achieve satisfactory results. However, it is also true that you as an adult and parent play an important role in the success of your child’s preparation and the outcome of results,” he said.
Mr Zeelie feels parents are the most important role players in the lives of their children and could impact in a wonderful way. He said the purpose of the foundation is to develop school leadership and management for the schools in the area.
“A lot still needs to be done at both primary and secondary schools in Tembisa. The schools need more support and the teachers need the best coaching, training and mentoring they can get. Residents need to be there for the schools,” said Mr Zeelie.
He added that a key contribution is to create opportunities for people, to shift from good to great and to grow into being the greatest version of the greatest vision they could be.
“For the past three years, I have had an impact on individual school leaders in some schools. I have also worked closely with, and shifted, under-performing schools to a status of credibility,” he added.
He said parents should provide love and attention to their children, they should be understanding and keep their homes calm. Parents should also ask their children about school work and what needs to be done.
