According to Ivory Park SAPS communications officer, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela, the suspect left her baby next to the yard of a 53-year-old woman.
“The woman claimed she had a baby crying in the early hours of the morning, at around 2am. She then went out to check what was happening. She said she found a baby wrapped in a black refuse bag with a duvet. She took the child to the Tembisa Hospital for treatment,” said W/O Sekgobela.
A case of child abandoned was opened.
“The police are appealing to residents to come forward with any information that could lead to the suspect’s arrest,” said W/O Sekgobela.
