RESIDENTS of Esther Park have been experiencing constant blackouts the past seven days.
One resident, Francois, who does not want his surname mentioned, said the power outages had been ongoing since the past weekend.
These outages last anything from two hours to a whole day and when the power does come on, it only stays on for a short while.
He told Kempton Express he had to throw away meat that had gone bad since his freezer kept on losing power.
On Wednesday evening the power went off at about 9.30pm and was still not on by 9.20am this morning.
He said he repeatedly reported the problem to the call centre but it seemed nothing was being done.
Ward councillor Tracey Butler said on Friday, May 30, there was a cable fault. Just as it had been fixed and power had been restored, another cable fault caused another outage.
She said on Monday a mini substation blew and the power went out again. According to her they found yet another cable fault yesterday.
Butler said an official told her it was a long piece of faulty cable and that the metro did not just want to patch it up, but replace the whole cable.
