THREE Soweto men who were in February arrested for breaking into a house on Moepel Street in Birchleigh, were sentenced to 27 years in prison for their crime.
The sentencing, which took place on May 14 in Kempton Park Regional Court, found Tsholofelo Mokgosinyane, Tebogo Phiri and Itumeleng Motsoathebe guilty of housebreaking and theft. They were respectively sentenced to 10, 12, and 5 years imprisonment, according to Norkem Park SAPS spokesman, Capt Lesibana Molokomme.
The three men were caught red handed at 8am on February 21 by D/Consts Freddy Makau and Benny Selolo, Consts Mokgadi Lekalakala and Tshamandzeni Meshack Mashele, after a neighbour of the burgled home alerted a sector police vehicle after she saw the criminals jump over the wall of the house.
Upon arrival, the police found the suspects had already started cleaning out the house and were carrying black bags that contained a computer hard drive, computer screens, DVD player and wallet.
