Make sure you get your rebate

Residents who reach the age of 60 can register on the date they turn 60 and do not have to wait

RESIDENTS are urged to make sure they get the correct rebates on their rates and taxes due to them.

Izak Berg, national chairman of the Independent Ratepayers Association of SA (IRASA), said pensioners already on the system would remain until the end of July 2017 (linked to valuation roll period).

“In respect of the additional pensioners rebate based on a percentage rebate per income per the gliding scale, pensioners are advised to re-apply if there is a change in their financial situation.

“Residents who reach the age of 60 can register on the date they turn 60 and do not have to wait for the next year’s budget or valuation roll to register,” Berg said.
