A young girl was attacked and robbed at gunpoint by three men between the Gautrain and Metrorail stations in Rhodesfield last Thursday evening.
A woman, who wants to stay anonymous, said she was walking along the crossing from the Gautrain to Rhodesfield Station when she noticed a young girl walking behind her.
The woman got into the car with her husband, who came to pick her up. They noticed in the car’s rear view mirrors how the girl who was walking behind her was being held down by three men. Her husband got out of the car and started to run towards them.
Two of the men took out fire arms and her husband retreated back to the car.
The woman said the three men immediately ran away. The couple got out of the car to see if the girl was okay. He also called police officers at the Gautrain station.
The girl’s family was contacted and while they were waiting for her, they heard a man had just been robbed on the Metrorail side of the area.
The girl’s mother and father came through from Newcastle on Friday.
The girl, a student, was on her way home when the attack occurred.
The girl’s mother would like to thank the man and woman who helped her daughter on that dreadful night.
