A man who hijacked a woman after pretending to be a job seeker, had been arrested.
According to Capt Lesibana Molokomme, spokesman for Norkem Park SAPS, the man approached the woman at her gate on Moepel Street in Birchleigh at 8.40am on May 30. She had just pulled up in her driveway and he asked for a job as a gardener.
“After the woman turned him down, telling him that she already had a person who did her garden, the man pulled out a firearm and ordered her to give him her car keys,” Molokomme said.
The man, 23, then drove off in the woman’s Ford Mondeo.
The victim’s son alerted the police who were able to find the car driving towards Birch Acres Mall. A high speed chase ensued but the police caught up with him in Umthambeka Section in Tembisa, where he was arrested.
