Drunk driver gets 15 years for murder

His bakkie collided with a car on Christmas Day in 2012, killing all four occupants instantly

Oscar Sefala (25) was sentenced to 15 years in prison in Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court following a car accident on Christmas Day in 2012.

According to Capt Jethro Mtshali, Kempton Park SAPS spokesman, Sefala’s bakkie collided with a car on Pretoria Road between Beukes and Elgin roads, killing all four occupants in the other car.

“Sefala’s bakkie hit the other car from behind, killing all four occupants instantly. Sefala also sustained injuries.

He was given a breathalyser test and it was discovered his alcohol level was over the limit,” explained Mtshali.

He was first charged with drunken driving and culpable homicide but during the court proceedings the charges were changed to four counts of murder and drunken driving.
