Sports tournament highlights Youth Day
Vodacom South Africa sponsored a Youth Day Festival held at Bokamoso High School grounds on Monday this week.
The company’s marketing guru, Mr Leonard Ringane, said they decided to sponsor the festival because they are receiving a lot of support from the people of Tembisa.
“In fact, we started this festival on Saturday as a part our company’s social responsibility programme. We have also realised that most of the youth today do not know the importance of June 16, which is why we decided to bring people to speak to the youth about their role in the new, democratic dispensation,” he said.
Mr Ringane said he was happy they managed to take youngsters off the streets during the long weekend to spend three days participating in different sporting activities.
Meanwhile, the co-owners of Generations Sports Development, Mr Obert and Thabethe Sithagu, said they have been hosting development programmes in and around Tembisa for a long time.
“We would like to thank Vodacom for partnering with us in this project. I would also like to thank the parents for allowing their children to spend the whole weekend with us. We are still going to organise such events in order to unearth talent in our area,” said Mr Obert Sithagu.
