NINE men were arrested in Isando last week Tuesday after they were found in a truck containing copper cables.
The men, eight Cameroon nationals and one South African, were found off loading the copper cables on Diesel Road, Isando.
“At about 10am flying squad members, Constables Tefo Khahlise and Nomfundo Dlamini, received information about a truck containing copper cables meant for delivery in Boksburg for recycling being in Isando,” said Capt Jethro Mtshali, Kempton Park SAPS spokesman.
According to Mtshali the truck had deviated from its route and was diverted from Wynberg to Isando.
“The owner of the truck, along with the tracker company, managed to locate the truck and realised it had been diverted from its route. He immediately notified the police and the tracking company,” added Mtshali.
The truck is believed to have been robbed or hijacked en route to its original destination. The whereabouts of the designated driver and his crew are being investigated.
