THE owner of a guest house in Birchleigh was attacked by two men and a woman at about 1pm last week Thursday.
About two weeks prior to the incident, a 65-year Van Riebeeck Park man was also attecked by three armed assailants in his home.
Although he managed to catch one in the bathroom, he eventually let him go out of fear that his accomplices would return.
Herman Foulds (63) said they called to book a room but the house was full. They then made an appointment to view the guest house.
As Foulds opened the front door, the two men pulled out firearms. Foulds told Kempton Express he reacted quickly and managed to tackle one of them.
They fell outside the house. The other two followed them outside.
The suspects decided to flee but Foulds managed to get hold of one and put him in a bathroom. He held the door closed.
Foulds feared one of his accomplices, who had all ready escaped, would come back, so he let the suspect out, who ran past him.
When the suspects started running, a shot went off. Foulds does not know where it hit. He also found a bullet and casing in the hallway.
He called 10111 just after the incident and said Norkem Park SAPS only arrived at about 5pm. They gave him a case number and said they would be back the following day to take his statement. By Monday they still had not arrived.
When queried by Express about the police not showing up, spokesman for Norkem Park SAPS, Capt Lesibana Molekomme, said they would send out a unit.
Foulds was not injured in the incident.
