Suspect found with municipal water meter boxes

Police became suspicious when they saw the suspect pushing a self-made trolley with a big plastic bag

A man who failed to account for municipal water meter boxes in his possession was arrested by Norkem Park SAPS on June 13.

According to Capt Lesibana Molokomme, spokesman for Norkem SAPS, the suspect was spotted on Pongolarivier Drive in Birchleigh North at about 8.30am, pushing a self-made trolley with a big plastic bag on it.

“Upon searching the bag, the officers recovered five plastic municipality water meter boxes suspected to have been removed from street water meters,” Molokomme said.

“The suspect failed to convince the police that he was the lawful owner of the suspected stolen boxes.”

The man, aged 32, was arrested for possession of suspected stolen property.
