Tembisan youngsters head to Spain
Members of a local, traditional dancing group Taxido, have packed their bags for a trip to Spain next week.
The group will spend two months participating against other traditional groups from across the world.
The group’s spokesperson, Mr Kenneth Tumudi Mphahlele, said they will perform in different Spanish cities like Madrid, Malaga and Barcelona.
“We are not going to Spain for a holiday, we are going there to showcase our talent and to represent our country. We are also going to make sure we put Tembisa on the map, because wherever we go, we will tell the audience about where we come from in South Africa,” he said.
Mr Mphahlele said that their going to Spain does not mean they are the best in Tembisa or the country at large.
“I think we were fortunate to be chosen as one of the best in the country. There are a lot of talented traditional dancers in South Africa, but the fact that we are the ones going will definitely motivate us to do our best,” he said. The group’s trip to Spain is being sponsored by the national lottery.
“We thank the national lottery for sponsoring the trip because without them, it was not going to be possible,” he said.
