A 38-year-old drug addict will spend the rest of his life in prison for the murder of two Zimbabwean nationals, whose bodies were found buried in his mother’s backyard in 2012.
Dumisani Shabangu from Birchleigh North was convicted of the double murder and drug possession on June 20. He was sentenced to two life imprisonments plus two years behind bars, according to Norkem Park SAPS spokesman, W/O Mahlodi Langa.
Shabangu, who was arrested on March 12, 2012, stoned the two men to death after he had demanded his drug money back from them.
“He would spend all his money on drugs. This time he demanded his money back from the deceased. When they refused, he stoned them to death,” Langa said.
He then buried the bodies in the yard of his mother’s house where he had a back room.
“Shabangu’s mother called the police when she discovered the bodies.”
When police arrested him, he was also found in possession of drugs, including mandrax and cocaine.
