Long-time affair ends in two lovers’ deaths

The 55-year-old married man shot his lover in the stomach and breast before turning the gun on himself

A love affair that lasted for years ended in a crime of passion when a Birch Acres man first killed his mistress and then turned the gun on himself.

Their bodies were discovered by the 55-year-old man’s wife.

According to Norkem Park SAPS spokesman, W/O Mahlodi Langa, the man had a long-term affair with the 30-year-old woman. The man stayed with his wife and the woman with her boyfriend and their children.

The wife of the deceased, who had gone to a family funeral two days before, made the grisly discovery in the bedroom of their Birch Acres home on July 4.

She came home on the Friday between 4.30pm and 5pm to fetch some clothes for herself when she found the two lovers dead in the bedroom,” Langa said.

“The man had shot the woman in her stomach and her left breast, then he turned the gun on himself and shot himself in the mouth.”

The police estimate the killings might have happened between 3pm and 4pm.
