A woman watched helplessly as two armed men pulled a woman out of her car at a busy intersection last week.
Whether the men wanted to hijack the vehicle or just steal her personal belongings, is not known. The shocked woman hurriedly drove away when the motorist in front of her, who also saw what happened, reversed into her car in an attempt to get away.
What happened to the victim nobody knows, as no case was opened at any of the police stations in Kempton Park.
The incident occurred at about 7.30pm last week Wednesday at the intersection of CR Swart Drive and Kelvin Street near Festival Mall. Reinette Botes said she was on her way to pick up her daughter, Richarda Vermaak, at her place of work. She stopped at the intersection and was the third car from the front.
Two gun-wielding men forced the woman in the front car out of her vehicle. “It happened so fast. The woman screamed and then the car in front of me drove into my car.
“I immediately drove up CR Swart Drive and called my friend, Louis du Plessis. He called 10111.”
Botes said she did not know what happened to the victim or her car, as she had left the scene too quickly.
According to Botes, Du Plessis told her the person answering the 10111 call did not sound very interested and did not even give him a reference number.
She says she uses the road every day and motorists should be careful.
