Three thieves nabbed
The Tembisa South SAPS arrested three suspects who were in possession of an illegal firearm.
According to the Tembisa South Station Commissioner, Colonel Samuel Maredi, the suspects, who were driving a VW Polo, stopped a local taxi and robbed the driver at gunpoint.
Shortly after the robbery, the driver spotted some police officers, who were patrolling in the area. The victim stopped the officers and asked for help.
The police officers gave chase and cornered the robbers. The suspects were found with an illegal firearm and the money taken from the taxi driver. The officers arrested the men.
The three suspects appeared in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court and were denied bail.
“We are calling on residents to be observant and to alert the police if they see criminal activity in the area. We will do all we can to fight crime in our area,” said Col Maredi.
