According to the Rabie Ridge SAPS spokesperson, Constable Jacob Nhlongo, it was believed two employees from a company bought sick notes from the suspect.
“The employees bought the sick notes on the same day. Their manager noted that both sick notes had the same serial numbers. The manager followed up on the matter and found that the sick notes were illegal. He alerted the police,” he said.
Const Nhlongo said the employees took the police to where they purchased the sick notes. The police found the suspect in possession of other sick notes.
“He confirmed to officers that he was selling sick notes to employees. It is believed the suspect sold sick notes for one day, at a cost of R75. The suspect was arrested and detained at the Rabie Ridge SAPS,” said Const Nhlongo.
A case of fraud was opened and the suspect is expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court soon.
