DJ still remembers Miami

The experienced Tembisa-based DJ, Thabang Modiba, is till cherishing the day he shared the stage with international stars like Monique Binghan and Louis Vega in Miami late last year.

Modiba, known in the music industry as DJ Thabang, said after winning the Gauteng Carnival DJ competition, he also won a ticket to compete with the best in the world in Miami.

“It was a once in a life time experience for me. I was afraid of sharing the stage with some of the best DJs in the world, but once I started spinning the discs, the crowd started jumping up and down. That was when I knew I was on the right track and that encouraged me to do more,” he said.

He was accompanied on his Miami trip by DJ Black Coffee and Tembisa’s own mixing master, DJ Shimza.

When asked where he would like to see himself in the next five years, he said he would like to be rubbing shoulders with the best in the world.

“I would like to be an internationally renowned DJ,” Modiba told The Tembisan.
