Tembisa Deaf triumphs

Tembisa Deaf FC beat Soweto Deaf FC 2-1 in a friendly game played at the Mvelaphanda Primary School grounds on Saturday last week.

Apart from the fact that all the players from both sides were deaf, even the referee was deaf and had no whistle. The referee and players communicated through sign language.

The boys from the from Soweto started the game well, attacking the locals from all sides.

The team’s industrial midfielder, Mthokozisi Khanyile, was a marvel to watch in the midfield. In the 30th minute, he dribbled past four players before releasing a split defensive pass to Mpho Mogapi, who beat the ‘keeper from close range. It was 1-0 at the break.

The local lads regrouped during the break and came back more organised in the second half. They equalised only four minutes into the second half when two-goal hero Mfezeko Manyunha received a loose ball on the right flank before outrunning the defence. He ‘beat the keeper with a ground-cutter.

He completed his brace in the dying minutes of the game when he headed in a corner from Corner Langa.
